Pictures Of Shaolin Kung Fu and Buddhist Ceremonies.
**
**
Kung Fu pictures can not truly illustrate the skill with which Kung Fu is demonstrated by the Shaolin Monks nor by the dedicated students of Kung Fu. The Buddhist Monks and Kung Fu pictures, which are included on this website were taken at the Shaolin Temple and other Buddhist Temples in China. They include pictures of Kung Fu students and of Master Xing Du in China and in the mountains of Wales.
Perhaps a good illustration of what the kung fu exercises can do, is shown in the Kung Fu pictures from the Ming Dynasty Hall. Here a Buddhist Monk demonstrates a Kung Fu exercise that has indented the stone floor of the hall, having been performed by Shaolin Monks and Students over many years.
There are kung fu students with a natural talent for kung fu. The performances of a dedicated student show what can be achieved in the study of kung fu. It is the dedicated student who is best able to gain the flexibility and agility in kung fu admired by so many. The young student of kung fu receiving training from Master Xing Du was aged four years and two months at the time the photos on this page were taken. Being a young student of kung fu, he had plenty of examples to follow in the older students, one of whom was his mentor.
Kung Fu is invariably associated with the Shaolin Temple, but it is essentially a Buddhist Temple at which Buddhist Ceremonies are performed. In the year 2003, Buddhist Ceremonies were performed at the Shaolin Temple, by 49 visiting Buddhist Abbots from 49 different Buddhist Temples on 49 different days. The Buddhist ceremonies were performed in the Hall of the Reclining Buddha.
